These ports, such as Castiglione della Pescaia, have developed a large tourist trade without sacrificing their natural features. Castiglione della Pescaia, is among the best known seaside resorts in the country, appreciated both at home and abroad. It is known for its castle and medieval quarter that dominate the town and the canal port. It offers wide, well furnished beaches that reach from Punta Ala to Marina di Grosseto. The latter is becoming ever better equipped as the work to restructure and enlarge the port of San Rocco draws to an end. Approximately 15 km from Castiglione della Pescaia, Punta Ala is one of the best equipped seaside resorts with high quality hotels and a tourist port that is among the most complete and modern in the Mediterranean.
